Window View

This is a interior scheme inspired by a window view in the islands.
I have used a combination of textures and design elements to bring the space together.

Pillow collection

Supplier: Ingrid Andersons
Fern bird, Kaka beak, Raupo, Pohutakawa
Compositions: 100% linen, and 100% Cotton duck
Width: 140cm - 45cm wide
Usage: medium duty
With the selection of pillows. I have chosen them all from the same designer to keep a relation. They all have something to do with New Zealand and the islands which i think is perfect as i am from New Zealand and my view is from the islands. They also bring beautiful touches of red and green to the space to lighten up the room.

Dining chair

Supplier: Paperoom Slub Sandhill
Format: Hand Silk Screen Printed
100% Cotton Beech Union
142cm
Usage: light upholstery
The dining chairs i wanted to keep ligth and simple. The fabric has a similar look to wood or even bamboo. Both you can find on the island.

Curtains fabric

Supplier: Paperoom Akaroa
Format: Woven
55% Hemp 45% Linen
150cm
N/A
Usage: light upholstery
The curtains i chose were made of a mixture of hemp and linen, which actually gives off a lsightly ruff feel but still very delicate. This relates to the outter shell of the coconut.

Rug 1

Quad Sheepskin Rug

Supplier: Homebasecollections
Quad Sheepskin rug
Composition: sheep skin
Width: 1.9 x 1.25
Usage: heavy duty rug
This rug is pure sheep skin and i thought that whis related to my space as in the islands there are many animals roaming around and also people selling them. With the rug as a centre design piece i feel it works well with the other elements. The look of the rug also reminds me of the husk of a coconut too.

Rug 2

Supplier: Nick radford rugs
Outdoor rugs 'pebbles'
Composition: polyester rope
Width: any size required
Usage: heavy duty

I chose this out door rug to act as my carpet, becasue in fiji the houses are more outside living than enclosed. this type of rug will be able to sustain the hard weather conditions and last over a long period of time. Also the pattern that the polyester ropes make reminds me of the thick weaved garments fijian woman wear.
